Lesly is 17 years old and lives in the village of Buena Vista, Magdalena Milpas Altas, in Guatemala.  Currently in her second year of the Gateway Program, she is a hard worker, studying to become a Bi-lingual Secretary and is dedicated to her studies.  She is the middle daughter in a family of 5 girls and the first one to go past the 6th grade.  In her words, “The first year was very fun because I met new friends... and because this has been a dream on mine since I was very little.  It was a little difficult but I am doing well.”

Oscar is 18 years old and lives in the village of Tablón, a 45 minute hike from Buena Vista, and is in his second year of the Gateway Program.  After he completes his computer degree he will enroll in the Police Academy as his ultimate goal is to be a police officer like his father.  In his words, “ my dream is to graduate and work for my family and my parents to be proud of me...”
